Camp is something I look forward to all year. It’s such an eye opening experience for “diabetic families,” including mine. I can’t imagine not going. It’s an indescribable feeling to be surrounded by people who are your age and going through the same things you do everyday.

Although there is no such thing as a perfect diabetic, camp has definitely pushed and shaped me into being a better diabetic. It’s daily encouragement. I’ve gained more knowledge and support by being around others than I am sure I realize at this point in my life. I’m fortunate and thankful to experience all of this. Not every diabetic gets the chance to go to camp. The things I have learned and experienced, the friends I have made, make camp…. camp.

Camp friends are so special because they “get it.” There is something about a camp friend bond that is so amazing. Each year brings many surprises, excitement, and new adventures.

I can’t wait to continue this journey with Camp Seale Harris.
