(Updated on April 3, 2020)
Camp Seale Harris has been watching the situation with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and monitoring various health sources including the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Camp Association (ACA – this is our accrediting organization), local school districts, and more. Your health, the health of our volunteers, and community are our top priority.
Based on CDC social distancing recommendations released on March 15, 2020 including cancelling all community gatherings of 50 people or more for 8 weeks, and the Stay At Home Order by the State Health Officer of Alabama on April 3, 2020, we are cancelling all CSH programs until May 25, 2020. All Diabetes Walks will now be held “virtually.”
Currently, we are still registering summer programs and plan to resume as scheduled beginning with Senior Camp on May 30, 2020. We want to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our population, protect our health professional teams who are working in medical-based environments, and keep everyone safe. We have a communicable disease plan in place that will be revised in cooperation with public health authorities as additional COVID-19 guidance is provided. Additionally, we will work closely with our local public health department to maintain effective protocols for the identification and appropriate treatment of any illnesses that may occur at camp, including COVID-19.
If you have paid for program that is cancelled, you have the option of a full refund or transferring to an upcoming program. Summer registration continues. If you are registering for a summer program and it is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
In addition to our normal check-in process for campers, which has always included body temperature testing, we will update our health and wellness screening policies and procedures to reflect the current best practices recommended by public health authorities.
We care deeply about your health (in addition to the health of your local communities), so we ask for your patience and understanding as we deal with this challenging situation. As we approach the summer season and work with the health authorities and camp sites we will post additional information and make decisions, if needed.
